Spironolactone (0.5%): An FDA-approved oral medication initially intended for managing fluid retention and high blood pressure, now finds new purpose off-label in the fight against hair loss. Its key strength lies in its ability to block androgens, including DHT (dihydrotestosterone), a hormone responsible for hair loss. These actions directly influence the health of hair follicles, making it a potent tool for combatting hair loss, especially in women.

Minoxidil (5%): Topical minoxidil is an FDA-approved hair loss treatment. It directly stimulates hair growth at the follicle, promoting vasodilation and extending the hair growth phase, leading to thicker, healthier hair.

Cetirizine racemate (1%): Cetirizine blocks the release of prostaglandin D2 and stimulates the release of prostaglandin E2. These prostaglandins play a vital role in regulating the hair growth cycle, contributing to healthier and more robust hair.

Caffeine (0.2%): Topical caffeine is used in hair loss treatments because it can stimulate hair follicles and promote hair growth. It works by increasing blood circulation to the scalp, which ensures that hair follicles receive more nutrients and oxygen, supporting their overall health. Caffeine can also help extend the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle and may counteract the effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone associated with hair loss.

Melatonin (0.1%): Topical melatonin is used in hair loss treatments due to its antioxidant and its ability to soothe and calm the scalp, which can protect hair follicles from damage, reduce irritation in the scalp, and stimulate hair follicles. It may also enhance blood circulation to the scalp and potentially extend the growth phase of hair.

Roller: Roll across the affected area of the scalp 5 times (equivalent to 1ml), once daily at bedtime.

Dropper: Apply 1 ml of solution to affected areas of the scalp, once daily at bedtime

How to use

1. Start with dry hair

Part your hair to get better access to your scalp.

 2. Roll where you need it

Spray in the areas of your scalp where you want to see improvement.

 3. Add light pressure to massage

Use the roller to add gentle pressure to the scalp to massage the product into the roots

4. Wash your hands

Once you’re done, wash your hands with soap and water to avoid reactivating any strands of hair on your hands.

No, you should not use topical Spiroxidil™ if you are pregnant, breasfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.

Topical Spiroxidil™, often prescribed off-label for women with androgenetic alopecia, works by blocking the effects of androgens (male hormones) in the body. Specifically, it acts as an anti-androgen by binding to androgen receptors and reducing the influence of these hormones on the hair follicles. Androgens can contribute to hair thinning and loss in women by shrinking hair follicles and shortening the growth phase. By inhibiting androgen activity, topical Spiroxidil™ helps to counteract this process, leading to the preservation of existing hair and, in some cases, stimulating the growth of new, thicker hair.

Hair growth is a slow process and it can take several months to see substantial results. It can take 3 to 6 months to evaluate the effects of your topical Spiroxidil™ treatment, but for some patients the full effect may only be visible after 7-12 months. It is important to stay on the medication and follow your doctors instructions for best results. 

Some side effects include:

  • Headache   
  • Local scalp irritation, including redness or minor swelling
  • Insomnia, nausea, dry mouth
  • Hair shedding: It's common to experience increased hair shedding initially. This is typically a temporary phase as hair follicles regenerate. 
  • Some may also experience changes in hair texture and color.
